E86 Air Vent alignment

Afternoon all,

I upgraded my head unit today, but when I went to put back in my air vents they seem to be raised on the bottom corners and not flush like they were before (see attached images). All of the screws behind are tight and i can't think of what it could be, unless I've missed some clips? Any ideas will be more than welcome.

Thanks,
Tucks

i actually think it's because the new lower facia is flat where as before the OEM unit was slightly raised to follow the shape of the vents.

I had the same problem.and had to shave the brackets for the new facia down.

Yeah I think I may need to do the same.

Its amazing how I can't remember how it sat juat a few hours before 😂

Thanks for the feedback guys

On the bottom of the air vents are two plastic tabs. GENTLY pull them down a bit with a flat blade screw driver, this will allow the bottom of the vents to clip in properly.

End result should look like mine.

No problem, glad we can help. I took photos through my HU install and the vent was one of the biggest problems of the job. Took me ages to get the thing out, then getting it to sit right. Worth it though

Is that Cirrus I see?

Hey guys,

I managed to get it sitting pretty flush, with some screw tightening, a little brute force and some manipulation of the bottom latches on the air vent.

Looking much better now :)

It is. Makes you go cross eyed if you stare it it too long. Been told it’s quite rare apparently.
.
Don't think I've ever seen it fitted. By cross eyed does that mean you don't like it?

Nooo, love it, it’s different. A mate sent me a link to a site that you can check how many cars are alike, mine is one of only 2 roadsters in the U.K. that’s 3.0si manual in silver grey with red leather and cirrus trim.
