E86 3.0si - P1424 - Engine Cutting Out On Start-Up

Hi all,
Have had my car for a few weeks and no problems so far (other than a whiny diff at around 50 mph in 6th but that's not the issue here lol).

Started the car this morning and it idled fine but the first few gear changes almost felt like the car was going to stall out.
Once up to temp everything seemed fine and I convinced myself it was just bad clutch footwork!

Went to start the car this afternoon and it started fine... for 1 or 2 seconds before the engine chugged to a halt.
Tried again, engine light came on and the same thing happened.
Tried a third time and by revving to around 2k for maybe 20 seconds I was able to pull away (wasn't brave enough to try idle again).
Car survived the rest of the way home including a few idles at traffic lights etc.
Upon getting home, car seemed to idle fine.
Switched off for a minute or two and tried starting it up again, chugged to a halt again.

OBD reader is throwing the code P1424. Previous owner mentioned he hadn't long changed the MAF and knock sensors.
Any ideas what the problem could be/how to to fix?
Thanks in advance.

Not sure what that code means, doesnt you reader translate that. As an easy check and because the MAF has been changed, have a good look at the intake arrangement just after the MAF and make sure pipework isn't loose or cracked anywhere. That can often cause rough running.

I’d disconnect the maf & try again, if it starts and runs ok on the default fuelling map then it points to a faulty maf - if it’s recently been replaced is it an oem sensor or a third party substitute? Those things have a reputation for failing.
