Hi all.

I need to replace the left hand driveshaft and am struggling to find a good or any used or even a remanufactured one. The part numbers are handed but could some kind soul please explain why, as there are several right side ones around. The lengths and diameters etc seem to be the same. Also what is the difference between the earlier one and the later one (post facelift I presume).

Finally if any one knows of anyone who may have one they don't need for sale I'd be very grateful. Part nr is Realoem 33207566231 and the number on the diff end is 7 541 439 A103

A total guess - maybe one side uses left hand threads on various parts so fixings don’t unscrew themselves?
 
Are you still looking for a driveshaft?
I think my neighbor is breaking a Z4 for parts. I don't mind knocking on his door and asking about the driveshafts if you still need one. :thumbsup:
 
That is very kind - Many thanks. However I have managed to find some. In fact I will soon have three..... The first one is from one of the well known BMW breakers but is actually scruffier and floppier than the one I took off. I then also found a pair from a 40k miles car which should arrive next week. Assuming they are ok I will replace both my 80k ones. More annoyingly, having taken the suspected damaged one off, I can't see anything wrong with it so the search for the problem goes on. Thanks again much appreciated.
