E86 3.0 SI Electrical surging

First of all, hello everyone, im new to the forum!

As you can see from the video, on sharp acceleration and sharp lifting of the pedal, sometimes even on motorways with foot flat down i have all the lights on the dash pop up. (the airbag, light warning lights are supposed to be up and i was driving on first stage traction control off)

this video was taken when i had disconnected all amps and ICE equipment from the battery terminal, when i have the ICE connected it rapidly drains the battery and when it is really low and these "surges" happen, the nav screen opens and closes and the radio turns off and on.

i thought it might be the alternators voltage regulator? any help would be appreciated, any questions, fire away

Hello mate, your video is set to private so cant watch.

Also have you changed the battery over with a new one to see if that coulb be an issue?

Alternator is always a good bet too
 
Hi thanks for letting me know, i have changed it to public now :)

Also yes i have changed my battery about 6 times maybe more since i got the car lol it has a silver battery (with 5 year warranty so every time it goes flat i get a new one). I think the one i have it is also higher output than the original (HALFORDS silver HSB110 55010)

I have disconnected my amp now to see whether it was the speakers or this issue draining the battery and it seems it was the speakers/amps (Due to me not having a capacitor and HID lights) the battery hasn't drained as fast however it may still be draining but at a slower rate now, ill soon find out. Either way it shouldn't be surging and with the whole speaker circuit ruled out, im hoping it narrows it down.

I have seen issues caused by the voltage regulator going bad and sometimes even corroded. i have also heard mixed stories of it being removable/non removable from the alternator. some people say you have to replace the whole alternator some say you can just replace the voltage regulator
