E85 Z4 Roof specialists in/around Essex?

(Wasn't sure whether it was better to post in this section...have also posted in dealer feedback. Mods please delete whichever is less appropriate).

Z4 has been sitting with the roof down in the garage for 2 years.

Went to close it and it's dead (red flashing light), no noise from the motor. Can be raised manually and the electric latch mechanism works fine.

Oddly enough, can raise/lower regardless of the position of the hydraulic bypass ring (so assume bypass must be stuck open).

Any recommendations for roof specialists in/around Essex. Happy to travel a distance for quality service.

There is no one in Essex unfortunately.
The closest is RBM in Hampshire, and they will relocate the motor to the boot and sort out your problem at the same time.
A lot of the guys in Essex use Ross for more than just roofs so it’s worth the trip.

How far are you from Attleborough? NR17.
Happy to help if I can. I've moved a few to the boot now which is the first step in diagnosis.
I may also have a spare motor if yours is beyond salvaging.

The closest is RBM in Hampshire, and they will relocate the motor to the boot and sort out your problem at the same time.

Hi enuff_zed, thanks for the kind offer. I've watched a few YouTube videos on the motor access and relocation (without having to remove the roof). Looks a bit fiddly, but not impossible. I might give it a go (and send you a PM if I fail miserably!). Thanks once again.

Good luck if you do attempt it yourself.

Then there might be a specialist in Essex!

But if you just want it done RBM in Hampshire will sort it. I know a forum member in Romford who gets his car serviced there and my BMWs have been there four times in the last couple of months. :roll:
