E85 Z4 doesn’t start sometimes

Hello,
I have a 2004 E85 with the M54B30 engine, and about every two months the car won’t start. Here’s what happens:

I put the key in the ignition and turn it to the start position. The starter motor cranks continuously, but the engine never fires.

This has happened at least four times over the past year. Each time, I’ve had to tow the car to a shop, where they “relearn” the computer. That process clears whatever error codes are preventing the engine from starting, but it hasn’t been a permanent fix.

Is there anyone having the same issue? How can I fix it permanently?

I wonder if they're resyncing the DME and the EWS (engine and security ECUs)? Can't think of anything else that stops fuel going in and error codes don't stop an M54 trying starting.

If that is indeed the case, then there is a simple piece of software that tells the DME not to check in with the EWS any more.
