E85 Z4 3.0 se

Sadly with heavy heart I have decided to put up for sale my 2004 Z4 3.0 SE with only 48,505 miles has had a recent service and MOT to April 2023 also recently replaced O/S/F brake caliper and hose. Car has always been a second car with a lot of attention lanquished on her over the years and especially with the previous owner who was an active member.

The car has all the usual standard features that I know you are all aware of so will just list the spectacular options list and upgrades that come with this machine which drives faultlessly, the only problem I ever encountered was a little of the sticky steering syndrome (subsequently cured by a very knowledgeable active member) thanks again.

M Sport Multifunction steering wheel
M Sport Gearlever knob
Leather electric/heated sports seats with three memory position for driver (both in excellent condition)
Harman Kardon stereo system with six cd changer (amp in boot)
USB connectivity socket located out of sight
The original Trafficmaster T Mob satnav installed (paperwork & instructions available)

Roof motor replaced by FORZA GB (now fully sealed and water ingress protected)

Remote one touch raise and lower soft top function
Lowered EIBACH springs all round
Front grille replaced with black chrome surround upgrade
Brake discs replaced with BREMBO drilled and grooved upgrade
19" BBS LM replica style wheels coupled with new rear tyres (8.5 front x 9.5 rear)

Engine bay

AFE intake system (original available)
ALUTEC strut brace (no longer available)
Clutch delay valve deleted

I think that just about covers everything I'm sure I may have missed something I believe I've priced her sensibly taking into account the mileage and exceptional condition inside and out please feel free to contact me for more information and pictures.

Google maps says 51mls - 57 mins but could be more or less dependant on your exact location, we are literally two -three mins from M5 J22 (Burnham on Sea jctn).

I have just had contact from this trader and he confirmed it was bought direct from Alex. I have offered him £750 on top of what Alex was asking of the £6750.

Btw I didn't know this site was for trade buyers, just genuine enthusiasts. Seems like Alex's good intentions of being sold to an enthusiast to 'keep it in the family' have been thwarted.

I have just re-read the forum rules, and they appear to be designed to stop traders marauding this site and profiteering, which appears to be exactly what has happened here. I would be very interested to know how this occurred and got by, I have the trader contact details and name etc.

Have you reported it?

Fundamentally the forum can do nothing to stop trade buyers, only really attempt to stop trade sellers.

Surely anyone is entitled to buy the car from an advert on the site. When you advertise on the site you’re not just relying on forum members to purchase an item as it’s available for anyone to view.
You obviously had the same opportunity to purchase the car at the asking price as the buyer.

It’s this for me, whilst I can understand the desire to prevent traders from masquerading as private sellers, surely it’s up to the seller if they want to sell to a trader?

Ultimately it is down to the seller who they sell the car too.

Yes the trader will profit from it which is their business.

I have seen it over the years where private individuals have profited from buying good value Z4s then selling them later in the year for more money, which really is no different to this.

Whilst it’s frustrating, and happens from time to time, can’t see there’s anything for the site admin to do here. I believe they give their time freely and I can’t see how they could possibly change the outcome

I think sometimes there is a miss conception that you buy a car put £3000 on it (in the above case and that’s the profit)

When I worked at a main dealer this was not the case.

Most garages are VAT registered so there would be 20% VAT to pay on any profit plus corporation tax. Hard to say what the prep would be on the car above but I would assume £500 could be more or less. Then take into account advertising cost, insurances, accounting costs, warranty costs, staff costs, in reality I suspect the profit is more like £1200-1500

Hi I feel I have to put a reply to this before I leave this forum and set the record straight by the way my name is Al ( Alistair ) not Alex I answered the few questions and supplied you with some more pics including service history etc not a problem it became a problem when on a Friday at 23:15hrs you sent me me what seemed 101 additional questions which took up a whole screen of my Xperia L4 (not a small phone) whish honestly were some pretty obscure questions! for an 18yr car in virtually mint condition, I,m not going to say word for word what my answer was as that would be discourteous suffice to say words to the effect get in your car and come and look and bring a torch and magnet, also the insinuation that the car wasn't owned previously by an active forum member ( don't go by the reg number all the time, private plates get removed you know ) please note the car was up for sale for a very reasonable price and the guy that purchased it from me at a very reasonable price was a BMW enthusiast who just so happened to be a dealer he was the guy who could see from the pics that it has had a life of luxury and anybody who knows cars will see that as well so please get off your high horse stop griping on the one you missed!

Just to finish as an aside I had sleepless nights after I sold my Z just could'nt live without that great feeling of driving one so jumped into my old truck rushed down to Southampton (not an east drive ) and bought a mint 2.2 Z3 all done within a couple of days so is now keeping my two other classic cars company. I genuinely hope you find a nice Z4 just lower your sights a little or go buy a new one from a main dealer.
