E85 Z4 3.0, manual, 62k miles, 2005

It’s been a process of close on two years, but we're moving house and alas I'm losing my garage, so my low-mileage 2005 Sapphire Black E85 3.0 is up for sale.

This Zed was first registered on 8th March 2005 in Cumbria, has had 6 previous owners and comes with stamped service history.

The car is in good condition with a clean interior and fully working roof. It's a very late model pre-facelift with that gorgeous straight six [non-lifter-tick] M54 engine. It is 18 years old though, so not perfect. Those imperfections are as follows:

  • The car of course has age related marks in places. Difficult to see at a distance being a forgiving black colour, but they are there when you look for them.
  • A few scratches to the lower rear bumper.
  • M Sport multi-function steering wheel isn't wired in, but will come with the official retrofit cable to install and enable full function.
  • Small chip in the windscreen. Not an MOT issue.
  • It’s a black car….you’d better like cleaning cars 😄

During my ownership I have documented all work and purchases made. That work and the cars previous history are all listed below. My project-diary thread with lots of pictures can also be found here…

https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=139298

Mileage was the real kicker for me on this car as it was low on just over 60k miles, which is roughly average 3500 miles a year. It just ticked over to 62k miles on the odometer (will increase with limited use).

The car is ULEZ compliant, currently garaged in Blackheath SE3/north Kent and comes with:

• V5 in my name
• HPI clear
• Private plate: R12 NRW
• Hardwired dash-cam (located behind mirror)
• 2 x keys
• BMW wallet with all manuals/books/stamped service book
• Folder of receipts/bills
• MOT until November 19th 2023

* Note: The Storm Motorwerks gear knob and handbrake handle will be removed and replaced with the OEM parts, as they were gifts.

I’ve tried to be as open as I can with the condition of the car. It’s a lovely pre-face lift M54 example that’s not perfect, but with some fettling (fettling I’d planned to do over time), will be a fantastic low mileage example for somebody that’s already had a lot of the mechanical heavy work and spend completed.

Price: £5250 ono

I’m interested in finding the car a new owner that will continue with the upkeep and enjoy.

Any questions, please drop me a PM.

You’re very kind, Pondrew
With my back catalogue, I’ve had a lot of practise

Some cars you know are going to be good just based on the owner. This one doesn’t disappoint. Nice car inkey$

What sort of classic Inks...?

GLWTS too.
Thanks, John.
Classic wise there are a few on my bucket list. Nothing extreme but a few I want to revisit or admire, Maybe another E30 or Z3. Quite like to try a Mk1 TT or Mk1 MX5 (rust dependent!). Also really fancy an old 840. Failing all of that and once I move, I could see myself in another E86 at some point too.
The list gets longer most days

Thanks, Street. I love my cars and especially a 6 cylinder. Maybe its nearly time for a green coupe in my life 8)

How can you do that to me Inks

Price wise - I looked at a similar mileage one, not in the greatest of nicks with an absolute ar*e of a seller who would not budge from a £6k asking, so I don't think you are very wrong - especially with the gold plated wheels

(Any spares you are going to donate to me by the way? :D )

I was looking at Z3's at the weekend Inks, some nice ones around at the moment. I think they look great, only issue is the offset pedals to the steering wheel, mind it's been a few years since I drove one so maybe.....

I knew you'd hate me for this
Any spares I may have left, I'll happily donate* to the PVR Machine.
*unless they fit an E86

Yes, I've owned three Z3's and loved all of them. Underrated handling, especially if setup correctly, and looks to die for, IMO. Probably go for another 2.8 or 3.0 if I can find one that isn't priced too high. Or even better, a LHD 2.8 or 3.0 coupe

MK1 TT QS would be a cool car to own, pretty rare too especially with the Recaro PP seats. Lovely cars, try get the lower tax bracket one if you can.

You never know, Tom. Hopefully I’ll be able to enjoy over the some for some time too. Went out in it today - hood down, sunshine shining - and it was so good :driving:

That would be my preference, and good point on tax bracket. Liked them when launched, and I’ve liked them more with each passing year.

Price dropped to £5995 ono, as I've been keeping an eye on prices.
Open to sensible offers. Located in SE3 / north Kent.

Slight update. I’m scheduled to get the passenger door replaced and washer leak fixed next Friday 21st, so two things off the list

G'day, Inkey$ ... managed to continue with my run of senior moments ... and I haven't the faintest idea whether you'll get this or not. I so envy the dudes who can type/message with more than one digit.

However, new member .. looking to rejoin the front engine, rear drive, straight six, no roof crew ... loved the images and description of your car. Would like to know if it's still available, please ..... and is, by any possible temporal time shift, north Kent anywhere near north Cornwall? Or .... were you, by any chance, planning a few days away in Bude?

Love the car.
Regards.
Rick.

Hi Rick. Thanks for the kind words on the can and the ad. The good news is she is still for sale. The bad news is, I’m nowhere near Bude anytime soon (much as I’d love to be as North Cornwall is my spiritual home)!
