E85 wing mirror removal and fitting

hi guys, my first post in this group and not the one I wanted to be making...

I recently purchased an e85 3.0i however the next day some dickhead has hit my mirror off and snapped it, hanging on only by the wires connected to it.
does anyone know how to replace one of these? I've seen a video on YouTube but it was only for an e46, and non for a z4. I'm assuming its a matter of taking off the door card and then disconnecting the cables and removing the housing by taking off the bolts? is this correct, if not could anyone please point me in the right direction!?

thanks,

Luke.

I’ve no idea, but I have both sides going spare if you make me an offer 😉

Great condition in Sterling Grey 👍

that is the colour I need....! however I've just ordered a new one from eBay. thanks though mate, appreciate it. :D

Pretty sure if you do a search on the forum that Stuart (bigwinn) did a how to on this, or possibly included with his door removal guide?

Also, I hope you got the correct replacement? Some have powerfold and others don't.

Have just done the same myself and it’s not too difficult. In four easy steps:

Prise off tweeter panel from the door and disconnect tweeter
Prise off the door card (starting from the hinge, working your way around the bottom and finally the top which is very tight)
Disconnect electrics
Undo three bolts behind the tweeter panel which hold on the mirrors

Reinstallation is the same in reverse.

Worth just pointing out for the sake of clarity that you only need to disconnect the mirror electrics.
You can rest the door card slightly away without disconnecting anything.
There are also securing screws for the door card, one behind the little 'airbag' badge, one behind the cap in the door opening lever and one under the the inner door handle itself. All those need care to get access to.

Whatever else you do, do NOT disconnect the airbag wiring.
