E85 Wind Deflector

According to Genuine Autoparts: http://www.genuineautoparts.com/uk/oe-bmw/54347117747 part number 54347117747 is a gimp style wind deflector. They are selling for £61.84 which must be a mistake as they go for over £200 from official BMW sites. Further, other websites state that this part number is just the left hand bit that goes inside the roll hoop.

I am tempted to order from Genuine Autoparts and see what happens. Any views?

Before anyone says anything, I would happily have the gimp style wind deflector if I could get one for sub £100. I do little long distance driving in the Zed, and would only use the wind deflector on such journeys. In any case, it will fit in nicely with my whippy aerial and mud flaps! :P

All thoughts welcome!

Looks absolutely genuine to me and I would happily order one if I needed.
Couldn't see p/p costs but maybe this comes up later in the order process.
Also assume they are all black?
All in all looks a good buy if UK BMW sell for £200+

I am going to go for it - nothing to lose - can chargeback the card payment if they don't send what's ordered.

Shipping is £9.42, so that makes £71.42 delivered. :)

Will be a bit of a bummer if it's bright pink! :o

Hi there,

I bought twice from that website.

The first was just the windscreen wiper rubbers. This was just to test if they are trustable. These arrived next week with UPS.
Then I bought the OEM exhaust tips from them, for 2/3 of the price quoted on ebay by UK sellers.

I had a pleasent experience. I didn't know they were selling the gimp deflector for that price. I just bought a second hand one from a gentleman from the forum for £80. I am very happy with it. Makes such a difference!

i've never driven without my wind deflector, do they make much difference?

In my opinion it makes a very noticable difference. I bought the car around August time, without a deflector. I couldn't drive for very long with the top down, especially on high speed roads. Ever since I bought the deflector I have a new rule: If the temperature is above 8 degrees C and if it isn't raining, I drive top down. All thanks to the deflector.

I placed the order this morning. Got a phone call this afternoon stating that Genuine Autoparts has a "catalogue error" and that the part number for which the price applies is just for the mesh piece for the left hand roll hoop. I have cancelled the order.

Just goes to prove, if it looks to good to be true......................... :x
