E85 whiring noise issue

Hi all, I bought my E85 2.2i (04 reg) 2 weeks ago and have loved driving it ever since.

One issue that it has developed is a strange whiring noise, coming from the front (appears to be more passenger side than driver side, but could just be my ears)

It doesn't happen on idle, only (occasionally) when revving (luckily caught it on video - see below).

It's most prevelent from zero to 20 mph, but after that it's silent. Has no effect on performance as it still pulls like a train, but want to make sure it's nothing serious.

Please see below videos, please excuse the rubbish quality.

Any ideas?

Many thanks

Sounds like something on the auxiliary belt, could be a few things...alternator, water pump, power steering pump or just one of the idler bearings.

As ph says, and oil filter faults have been mentioned (which I had never heard of until reading on here a few times), this maybe worth a read

Sounds like sucking air to me, in which case check the short convoluted section of rubber hose on the rubber inlet boot. They perish and suck air at low revs. It's on the left side of the engine leading to the throttle body. I changed mine a couple of years ago  download.jpeg.jpg
If the rubber boot is ok then check the top belt tensioner pulley. Mine did make a similar noise so I replaced it last April20190413_154421.jpg
Remove the belt and start the engine for a few seconds. If the noise is absent then it is definitely one of the pulleys. Spin them or rotate them by hand and you can feel if the bearings are worn or noisy

I used to getting a strange noise from the passenger seat, but I eventually cured it by not taking the wife out any more..
