E85 Top Down Side Covers.

what the F#$%K are these people smoking? What exactly is worth 260 pounds here?

I'd rather staple actual money together and cover the side gaps with that instead!

They are indeed a pain in the a**e, a complete and utter inconvenience, an antithesis on the whole mechanics of the folding roof. They fly off either side of you at the lights because you WILL forget they are there, a major ball ache, you soon realise they're best kept in the boot never to be used again, or maybe... just maybe, they might fetch a pretty penny...

But... I just can't bear to part with mine

But could you be arsed to draw round them!? Take some measurements?

An app like QCLONE on iOS may help too :)

Then the likes of me or markalps could look to model & 3D Print some :)

I have been downloading lots of images, and over the next week I will be taking take measurments off the car and see if I can work it backwards and create some form of 3D model.

I'm curious of the max width and length of the item (and height I guess)?. Older printers generally only print 200x200x200 , newer ones are now printing areas around 300x300x300. You can get up to 500x500x500 hobbyist printers. (sizes in mm).

I have 3x 3D Printers but only up to 200x200x180. Hoping to upgrade soon though

Luckily I have access to a couple of 3D printers, the MakerBot Replicator+, and the Ultimaker (2+ model I think) but I know that during the design/fit stage I will be printing it in 2 (or more) parts because of the size. However once done would be easy enough for anyone with the 3D model to get it printed from any of the print service companies.

The original ones are covered in some sort of textured vinyl, from the images looks like a leather(ish) texture, but I just want it to be print and fit without having to cover with anything first, so will need to learn how to add textures to surfaces in fusion 360, feels weird that I have never done that before, so will be a good learning exercise as well.

I just can't keep away

Having a great time but still keeping one eye back at home! I'm actually trying to negotiate a hardtop while I'm out here

Would like to put my name down for one of the 3D printed sets.....

Little early but just throwing it out there... as long as they’re not 10 million billion pounds :D

They won’t be, more like 20 million billion pounds because they’re in high demand 😂

If Thanatu55 is kind enough to loan me his I’ll work out a cost once it’s modelled etc (markalp may do it first). I’m currently watching a couple on eBay but as my luck always goes it’s between pay packets so not affordable anyways lol

Im surprised nobody has contacted a carbon fibre company and done a group buy on these.
I would imagine they would end up a lot less than whats on ebay.
