Working on replacing the thermostat, the new thermostat does not fit the lower radiator hose even though the size looks identical to the old one. Have anyone had this problem ?

Have you used a cheap, pattern part thermostat or the genuine BMW item. Despite what the entire Internet will tell you, they're not the same and won't be built to the same tolerances/opening or closing values. Rule of thumb, if it's a moving part, or it's electrical, always buy OEM.

Yes the clip is out, the old part fits back in without a problem

I got the part from advance auto part as I had the car apart and bmw dealer not an option atm, I read the reviews on the part no one else had the problem, could it be the hose is bad ?

What brand is it?

I can confirm that febi and wahler stats will fit ok as ive done 2 replacements using these. The febi failed after a year. The wahler is still doing good after a few months.

As eddiemunster suggests, if its a cheap non-oem part it will probably be crap.

Stick to oem or original bmw branded parts.

I suspect the pattern part isn't right, tolerances will be far more slack on that than the original OEM BMW part; it only takes a mm or two, or a flange that's the wrong shape and a part won't fit properly.

Simple test is; is the original part OEM BMW, and, does it fit back into place properly? If the answer to both of those is "Yes" then you you know what your problem is.

I replaced my water pump, thermostat, pulleys and belts back in November '18. I fitted a Wahler thermostat and didn't have any issues at the time or any since

I forgot to replace The old Seal ring it fits now after replacing it
