E85 Sport Button (Again)

Hi,

Im aware this has been brought up previously but can I canvass people's opinion in terms of what the Sport Button should actually be doing? Because dam it I don't notice any difference at all, now when I owned an m3 I Did notice a difference in instant throttle but on my 3.0 E85 I don't notice a thing..

Do they often break? Do you have to turn there button on at a certain time? The Orange light does light up but thats all I notice!

The Sun is out in so I'm heading out in the Zed, won't be selecting the Sport button tho! :roll:
 
It sharpens up the throttle and the steering. Made a big difference in my e85 especially the throttle, made it quite hard to drive smoothly around town and definitely noticed the steering too

Right, the change in an auto box is dramatic. As for steering and throttle, how dramatic the change is depends on which version you have it seems. Some people love the sport throttle mapping, so I assume there is a marked difference, yet on mine the difference is rather subtle, hardly worth the bother with a manual IMO.

Thanks Nick, mine is indeed a manual so this would explain why I cannot notice any difference..

I guess the fact the Orange light comes on indicated its working but yep like Nick says more beneficial on an auto

You should definitely notice it on a manual. Made quite a big difference on mine

I have a 2006 3.0l si manual roadster. When the sport is pressed I feel a much, much quicker throttle response and the effect of the power assisted steering is diminished. For me, when driving in normal traffic I rarely select sport mode as it's easy to over rev (though It does sound good)

Same car, same opinion. The steering is much heavier and the throttle much keener.
 
Put your car in 3rd driving at 30mph put then press your accelerator. Do the same again 30mph in the 3rd but this time have the sports button pressed. You should notice a difference with acceleration.

It also takes out that little bit of dead space on the throttle.
 
I have an auto and it is a pretty dramatic difference. Same if I push the lever to the left

Mind you I have a jag auto with a sport setting and I struggle to tell the difference..
 
Press the button to turn sport mode on/off whilst your foot is pressing the accelerator a small way down.

You'll notice the difference instantly.
 
Steering is not so obvious but you definitely notice it when driving 'enthusiastically' on poor surfaces - less input required to keep off the verges, particularly if you are in an e85 on run flats :-)
