Hi all,
As the title says. I'm looking for a facia din so I can install an aftermarket radio into my E85.

Thanks!

You mean something like this...?

Yes, exactly like that. Was just wondering if there was one for sale on this to make it easier. That's not a bad price mind!

Don't forget you'll need a wiring loom to convert 'real life'/your new head unit to 'BMW'....and you might need something for the aerial too. BMW aerial connector (FAKRA Female) to whatever's on your stereo...

Thanks for the heads up! I was just going to get the fascia but i've now changed the order to include the rest of the bits.
What you reckon?

Dr Zed I just did similar and eBay looked cheaper- but price up Halfords- worked out cheaper IIRC

I needed a din plate, aerial adaptor and loom plug

I was looking at Halfords but couldn't find that they stocked it when I looked online. If I could get it in Halfords I probably would. I don't like them but it gets it all done today. Might need to pop in then.
Thanks!

An aftermarket head unit does not sit at right angles to the car dash - it sits more horizontal. The fascia in your link looks like one of those that stand proud of the dash in the car, but matches the angle of the head unit. The item in my earlier link is flush with the dash in the car, with the head unit fitting slightly recessed at the bottom edge. It's personal choice, but I believe the general concensus is that the flush fascia is more attractive, being less intrusive.
Also, Dynamic Sounds supply all the bits and I've found them very helpful when phoning with a query.

[ref]Dr. Zed[/ref], Not sure if you have gone ahead yet but I've installed a few of these now, both types. Firstly Sidewaze Samm is right but there are some other considerations. The flush fascia in the first link says Anthracite but I bet it will be almost black when you get it. Personally I found that the mount that sits proud of the car is a better fit and integrates well with the the angles of the internal car mounting, also if you get the right one it it comes with a rear mount. If you have a pre-facelift E85 the colour match will also be better with the vents. I also prefer them as they reduce the reflections on the stereo screen when you have the top down. Finally, if you do decide to go for the proud mount then let me know and I'll write up the installation instructions - the kit comes with three parts but no instructions :-( cut and paste this into Amazon "CARAV 11-127 1-DIN car head unit fascia facia installation dash kit for BMW Z4 (E85) 2003-2009"

Thanks for the heads up everyone.
I'm out and about now but will give them a proper read and reconsider. I hadn't thought about the different fitments much to be honest.
The anthracite being closer to black is something I had thought of though. Which would be very annoying!
I'm pretty sure I have a product from dynamic sounds in my cart. I never thought it'd be this annoying to get a din. My old car was just a halfords job! Still tempted to drop into them and see what they have stocked mind.

[ref]Dr. Zed[/ref], Just PM me if you want to talk through it, it's not that bad when you know how each of the options work. All the hassle is worth it for Bluetooth and phone connectivity in my view, it will sound better as well, even if you don't change the speakers.

I didn’t use the other side adapters- but I did fit the radio and then put the fascia over it

Thanks mate, appreciate that. I'm looking for Bluetooth mainly. I found the stubby aerial to be rubbish at picking up reception so would rather just listen to my own music anyway.

There are so many options, I really thought it would just be a case of buying the fascia and be done with it. Guess I was wrong huh?! I'm also very worried about the colour being completely mismatched.

So based on recommendations I now have these in mind:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/11-127-Stereo-Adapter-Installation-Surrounded/dp/B012CE90TI

The first one comes with the wiring etc, whereas the second one doesn't. I'm assuming I'll need all the wiring bits for the aerial etc so I can still listen to the radio if I wished...
