Not your usual issue and I have posted this before- but still wanting a view to see if anyone has another view

Issue is as follows:

Roof works from the buttons but buttons are reversed. Up is down and down is up. Rear demister works only when the roof is down.

To date I’ve swapped the switches, gm5, roof module and nothings changed.

It’s like the roof thinks it’s in the wrong location opposed to where it is?

Any thoughts on what could cause this? Hall sensors in the wrong place?

Thanks

Stuart

Sorry should have said

Checked that- made no difference. Same with wires to pump too

Updated.

We used inpa to check the parameters and confirmed that the roof indeed does think it’s in the wrong position- open when closed and closed when open

We swapped the wire in the central switches which solved the buttons being wrong but as that’s just an input it’s a symptom not the cure

So what would cause the roof to be confused in this way?

It would make sense to swap the wires in whichever sensor detects whether the roof is open or closed, rather than the switches.

More likely the hall sensors which identify the convertible top position. There are two, as far as I know, fitted on the right-hand main convertible top bearing. It is possible someone has had them out and replaced them the wrong way round.

From memory there are 4 but I agree they could have been messed with wiring wise

Yes I think there are four. NewTIS says the Hall sensors for identification of the convertible top position are fitted on the right-hand main convertible top bearing, the Hall sensors for the cowl panel lock are located on the cowl panel lock in the front convertible top bow strut.

Either way, if it’s possible to switch the two position sensors around, it ought to solve the problem.
