There are some melons out there... The buyer must have assumed that because it is on Ebay it will be cheaper than the dealer? It is a shame that never happens when I sell on there!

I paid £265 for mine from BMW and another £50 for the soundproofing/housing,

Some people have no idea, still they are probably happy with it, but I'd like to see their face when they find out.....

I opted for that option from bmw because of the 2 year warranty. After seeing that I am tempted to buy one more part just to sell on ebay & hope I will be lucky like that. who needs stocks and shares with money making like that lol.

As for the £450 ending, I was in shock. There was a used working one that went for £108 in the week I was tempted to bid on. I did email him for a buy it now price been cheeky. He was bit funny stating if you want one now there is one on ebay buy it now for £350 in used condition from another seller.

There is a bmw part breaker on ebay that does £150 swap with your old motor. He must refurb then. I did have a quick look at how they work as doubt would be hard to refurb them yourself.

The bidding on it started very early due to very very low start price. If grabbing a ebay bargain its all about the last 30 sec bidding game.
I got a full set of bmw genuine brake pads (front and back & 1 sensor) for £30 inc delivery on there in the week. Who needs trade with discount like that lol.

I've never understood why people bid before the last 30 secs. I guess I can understand it if they're not going to be around when the auction closes but often you see an early bidding war with 5 days to go. Clueless.

Can't remember the last time I bid on an ebay real time. I just use esnipe or similar and leave it to do the work. Bids to my max with 6 seconds to go. If I win small cost if I lose nothing.

Bidding way over manufacturer price just highlights ebayer stupidity...

yep there are numpties out there, i was looking for wind deflector holders for the boot, 25£ ebay + 5£ postage went into dealers 15£

My wife uses ebay quite a lot and said she she cannot see the difference between esnipe and similar than just putting in your highest bid with ebay. for example £20 max then if another bid comes in last six seconds from end at £19.50 you would still win. am I missing something?

Anyone who bids 19.50 instead of 20.02 or similar is a very poor sniper...

My recollection of auto bidding on eBay is that each time a bid is placed it bids again for you to make you the winning bid, until you reach your limit or the auction ends with you the winner. Thus you are always revealing your hand.

Esnipe does nothing other than validate the items is correctly set up to bid upon, until 6 seconds before the end the logs in and bids to make you the winner unless the price exceeds your max. Much more secretive and wins much more. Of course many use such tools so you can get 10 dibs withing the last few seconds.

I use bidnip which gives you free snipes to start with then you can buy more if needed (think it's $10 for 20 snipes).

You only use a snipe if you win !!
