E85 roof issues- not the usual

Ok let’s see what the collective power of the forum can do on this one

Steve’s 3.0

Very strange issue with the roof

First off- the key buttons work as expected- unlock and lock etc

But when opening the roof with the key you have to press the opposite to open/close.

Likewise, to open the roof from the car you press the close button to open and vice versa

So far I’ve:

Reversed the polarity on the roof motor.
Reversed the hydraulic pipes
Checked the reverse of the console switch

Nothing changed

Tonight I popped a spare roof control module on and it’s now doing nothing at all- apart from flashing top red light

Swapped the control module back and still nothing

Shelf and microswitch all ok

What have I done to it with the control module- blown a fuse or similar?

Answers on a postcard please as I am perplexed

Stuart

Are you saying it is coded to the key, or got one of those gaptechy things? If so, rule that out first.
Double check the fuses. You may well have popped one so now you have two issues.
Have you slaved in a spare console switch? Or just checked the one you have?

Deffo no gaptech
I can swap the switches to see if that makes any difference

Will check the fuses too in case I’ve popped one

On advice from the roof guru himself (Alan) I'm going to cycle the roof manually and check another GM5 module

All gone quiet? Do we think Stuart's stuck in the boot? :?
Never met him, but if he's vertically challenged then it's a possibility...
No! You're right. There are several different dimensions that would prevent that

You been talking to the missus again??

I'm guessing from your posting that you programed your key fob to open/close your top? If so, reset your wiring and lines back to what they were original(when it worked as it should). Afterwards, disconnected your battery for an hour or so. Then reconnect the battery and give it a try.

Whenever you have a computer issue the IT person generally will tell you to do a restart of the system. This is basically the same thing because I believe your issue is software related. Hey if I'm wrong this doesn't cost you anything from your pocket.

Update

1) Every day is a school day: a roof module won't work until you plug in both connectors....
2) I'll get my coat

At least we are back to the original problem of the roof works, but on the wrong buttons (similar to Morecambe and Wise/Andre Previn; all the right notes, just not necessarily in the right order)

We are now thinking that the module MAY still be faulty/wrong as realoem shows different module number to what's fitted in the car

Will update when we refit that (hopefully with all the right cables connected)

Well 10 out of 10 for honesty at least.
So that is the original fault now with the original module or with the new one?

I did think you had to undo the fault you'd introduced before you went any further.

We have ordered a new roof module

The one that was on the car shows a different oem number to what should be fitted…
