E85 roof drainage channels

I had problems with these getting blocked a year ago and damaging the roof motor. The main dealer took the roof off, cleaned the drains and renewed the motor. I want to make sure the same thing doesn’t happen again. I know how to access the bottom part of the drainage channels and have removed the rubber bungs. The passenger side top drainage hole has the motor sitting directly above so you can’t stick anything down to clear it. I was thinking of getting an attachment kit for my vacuum cleaner which has at a thin tube and several very small nozzles. Does anyone think it would be possible to clean a build up of dirt/leaves etc from around the base of the motor and clear this side of the drainage channel.
Thanks

The best money you can spend is having the motor relocated to the boot.
Do a search most areas are covered by a member who can do this.

Get a trumpet cleaner brush off eBay

 oops as above move it

Yep. Get an 8mm copper pipe and bend a 45 degree end onto it.

Slip this tube under the motor and feel the bend drop into the drain below the motor.

Slide a thin gauge wire or pipe cleaner through your copper pipe tool you’ve just made and have at it with some good poking. It’d help to do this and run a few buckets of water down that side of the roof to wash it through.

Thanks

Hi Tilly,
