E85 Roll Hoop Covers - Any condition, for 3D printer project

I'm in the process of designing a bracket system to replace the clear plastic straps on my Just Roadster wind deflector, based on an insert for the roll hoop covers. Making the required measurements in situ is proving to be a real challenge, but I'm loath to remove the covers as I know that the clips are easily broken.

Does anyone happen to have any old cover(s) lying around? It can be either left or right, and in any condition as it will only be used for measurements and trial fits.

If the project is successful I'll share the STL 3D printer files here and on Thingiverse.

I've already made hook brackets for my own wind deflector :)
 
Great minds clearly do think alike! :)

My deflector has existing slots for the plastic straps, so I'm hoping to use those to avoid the need for drilling the perspex. My plan is to attach the mounts to the inside edges of the hoop covers rather than the tops, but your design provides a useful alternative should that not prove possible. It's good to see that you have included the source files, although I'm a Fusion 360 man myself!

Speaking of which, I'm currently in the process of designing and building a Raspberry Pi based 3D photogrammetry scanner large enough to handle something the size of a roll hoop cover. It's based on Thomas Megel's OpenScan Mini, but is 2.5x the size, and ruggedised with V-wheels and bearings for heavier objects. Just the latest of a series of lockdown projects... :wink:

There’s a guy on the Facebook page having a clear out from a few Zeds. He had a few roll bar covers... worth checking out :)

Ahh glad you managed to track him down. I couldn't remember the guys name, but know he was selling at least 2 sets of covers! :)
 
I made him a rather cheeky offer, which he not unexpectedly declined - but I then realised there was another way of generating the shape I need. I just traced round the inner front face onto a piece of cardboard, then made another cardboard cutout of the centre seam. I took a photo of the two cutouts, imported it into Fusion and then traced around the edges. Then a quick application of the "loft" feature of Fusion 360 produced this:

It looks as though I don't need the covers after all! :D
