E85 radiator seating

Took the front grilles out today to see if I could see anything wet in my search for a washer leak. Peering down through the grille cavities I noticed things were not looking exactly symmetrical.

The lower rubber (what is this?) is not constant along the lower edge of the rad. Picture below is pointing my phone in and down towards the ground. Green area shows angle difference.

Can anyone with a 3 litre M54 confirm its meant to be this and post a pic? No issues with the car at all, just thought it was odd

Looks like it's not been seated right.
Pop the under-tray off and have a look.
There's a bit of give in the hoses, so you may be able to lift it a little and get it lined up properly.

B is a rubber seal on the undertray to stop airflow going under the rad and plastic moulding A along the bottom edge of the radiator should be sitting on top of B. Take the plastic panel off the top of the slam panel and you should be able to see what is misaligned  IMG_9130.JPG

Looks like it's not seated in the "cup" on the RHS (drivers' side) (left of photo).

As mentioned, it should be possible to reposition without too much hassle. Remove the plastic cover on the slam panel (the one with the hole for the coolant expansion tank cap) for better access. Probably won't need to go underneath.

Thanks, Liam. So the radiator isn't seated properly, or the rubber seal isn't?
