E85 Needs soft top draining! Help? Near York?

Hi ,

I have recently bought the E85 and i want to drain the soft top drains! Instead of paying for a dealer to do it, i rather spend the petrol money and drive to someone to learn first hand.. so i can do it 6 monthly! Im not confident enough to follow the pdf, but I think It be useful to learn off someone... Im pretty relaxed on driving far, as it will be a fun drive!

Can anyone take me through it?

Yea sorry . York Uk. Or for the next two weeks . Orpington Kent? . I am keen to learn as I clearly need to do it often parking outside !

i can talk you through the location of the bottom drain holes on the phone

I never did find the top holes where the water goes in? or am i getting confused with it all
 
Thanks deka, i am looking for someone to show me lol i have the PDF file which explains everything. But i am not confident I can put it back together after dismantling the wheel cover and the abs wire ... I am such a novice I am just a bit wary to try mysel first an getting it wrong ! I guess the last option is take it to a garage pay him to do it as I watch .....
 
Am in north wales and would be more than happy to help, not ideal I know. Surely someone closer to you could spare an hour of their time.
 
You can check the bottom holes/plugs directly without having to remove the arch liner and splashguard, the offside top drain hole can been seen from above through the roof mechanism so the only unknown is the nearside top hole - the view is blocked by the motor itself.

If you can hang on for a couple of weeks I'll be happy to come down and help out.It will give me a good excuse for a trip into York.

yea after the bank holidays, ie after 11th onwards is good.... i will crusing for the next 2!

My zed is similar to yours!
 
If you're confident with jacking up the car, removing a rear wheel and undoing three easily accessable bolts then there's no need to unplug/break anything.

• When you remove the wheel and expose the wheel bay there are three plastic bolts on the inner arch about half way up.
• From memory it's 2x 8mm & 1x 10mm.
• Simply unbolt these and pull the now free top edge of the splash guard forward.
• Grab a torch and you'll be able to see the rubber plug in there, just pull out and shove your finger up to see if anything's blocking the hole.
• Clean up the plug and refit it and the top of the splashguard, check your brakes while the wheel is off, shove the wheel back on and job
done.

Start to finish on both sides is no more than 10 minutes as you'll be quicker on the second side.

Thanks ... Don't think I have a jack for the car ... New to buy one lol. Just had rear wheels changed ! Shud be fine for a while !
