Some questions if I may!

Are there any alternatives to Meyle? Hopefully a little cheaper?

How about pressing the bushing out of the aluminium housing? Do people do that or is it easier to replace the whole thing?

Actually doing the job, I have a decent jack and stands etc. I’ve heard that some people take the lower arm off as it’s easier to change the bush. True?

I don’t want to get half way through and get stuck :-)

Paul.

Deffo take the lower wishbone off the car
Be careful getting the two lollipop bolts out of the chassis I’ve had one snap before
Mark the location of the lollipop bush on the wishbone to seat the new one in the same place but bank on having to get tracking done
Invest in a good ballpoint separator- fork type and scissors- and take the abs sensor out to get good clean access to the joint

Not a difficult job at all just take your time

Thank you. I have a scissor type splitter and I’ve got a set of pullers as well. Hopefully the bolts will come out easily as the bushes were only replaced two years ago (unknown make - supplied by the garage).

I’d powerflex or strongflex. Both offer lifetime warranty and are good reputable companies.

For removing my old bushes I tried the puller/extractor tool without success. I watched an old video by the 50’s kid and he twisted it off. I sprayed mine liberally with wd40 and then twisted off. I have done the same on left and right. Works better than any tool from my somewhat limited experience.

^ this. I trashed a ball joint using the wrong type of separator and ended up replacing both control arms (ocd won’t let me do just one :o )

I went for FAG control arms and lollipops. Quality seemed great and ride feels fine. Time will tell.
