E85 keyfob and door lock issues?

This seems common, so I'm wondering if anyone has insight into what to try next. My keyfob wasn't unlocking my car (unless I manually insert it). I tried charging it on an induction charger and re-pairing it with the car (five turns to the first position in the ignition, hold down unlock while pressing the lock button three times).. and it worked!.. for about 2 minutes. So I thought perhaps the battery is shot in the keyfob. I got it open, soldered in a new battery from Amazon, and it worked!.. for about 2 hours. I glued it shut with a small bit of super glue around the edges and it stopped working after that. The door lock button in the center console works.. however neither the key nor that button has ever unlocked the passenger door, even manually, since I bought the car months ago. I suspect that actuator needs replacing regardless. My question now however is: what do you suspect? The board on the keyfob? The GM5 module? Something else? If spending a few hundred and a few hours would fix this, I'd do it. But I fear it's going to become more of an expensive hassle than it's worth.

Thanks all -- I tried my OBD2 code reader, and it came up with 2 codes related to the GM relays. I'm now weighing whether I want to replace the 2 relays myself or send it off for repair to Scott https://www.bmwgm5.com/. I was able to solder the new battery to the key successfully, but the relays look a little more complicated. I believe the actuator also needs to be replaced, which I'll do myself.
