E85 Hood Latch Release

I have a 2003 Z4 and over time it's gotten to where the hood latch release pull inside the car at full pull (as far as you can pull it) does not release the hood latch outside. I looked on YouTube and could not find anything except a guy that had an issue with the latch itself. My latch looks like new. I was wondering if it might just need the cable tightened and how to go about that, please. Thank you.

When I encountered this issue I couldn't get the bonnet to open at all so I had to have someone pull the lever whilst I go a screwdriver in the mechanism accessing it through a removed grill which wasn't fun to say the least.

Anyway I took the latch off and found that it was virtually seized and covered in 20 years of muck by the looks of it, a good soak in petrol and scrub with a tooth brush cleaned it right up, left it to dry then I used a lithium grease to lubricate it, i also oiled the cables the best I could from the end that joins the latch and where they connect in the corner of the engine bay, this got the cable and latch moving freely and has been fine ever since.

The cables are expensive new from what I can remember.
