E85 Headlights query

I was looking over a used '04 Z4 3.0 today and noticed a small hole in one of the headlights. The hole is at the very bottom about halfway across the unit, as though something entered the light and exited at the bottom below/before the orange flasher unit.

My question: is this likely to have compromised the seal on the lights themselves and therefore lead to fogging?

Also, how do I tell if they are xenons or normal lights?

If they are xenons there will be no height adj on the dash by the headlight switch.

You can see the halogen bulb in the headlight unit from outside.

will condensate or even fog, so would take the replacement cost into account (unless it's practical to glue the holes shut)
