E85 hardtop question

I seem to remember that all UK market cars come with the necessary fittings and wiring already in place.
 
i guess the reason UK cars came equipped with the necessary parts for the hard top is because it seems to rain more there then here in the US?

There also was a retrofit kit for the fixings - no idea how rare these are by now. Probably not that popular mod as there was a limited number of hardtops in the market.

From my archives, the retrofit kit was 54 21 7 016 896, not found in Realoem anymore but the 5420 diagram shows the relevant parts. Couldn’t find the retrofit instruction sheet right now (certain I have it somewhere), but TIS 54 31 200 ”Removing and installing/replacing hard top mounting” covers the procedure, which is simple.
 
You can soon tell. Have a look behind the doors for the mounting holes - 3/4" diameter things to take a peg. They ought to be hiding under rubber covers
