Had the front shocks and top mounts replaced over the weekend and the only thing that cropped up was that the top mounts have a nipple as well as the three threaded bolts and because this nipple was in a different position to the one's removed, had to grind them off for the bolts to locate into the three holes in the bodywork.
Is this nipple there for any other reason other that to position the shock in line with the holes??? The shock absorber has been refitted to it's correct position.
There isn't any issue in the car's drive ability all is good but what I could do if needed, is drill through the existing bodywork hole on the wheel arch into the top mount and fix a self tapper screw with spring washer? Is there any need though I'm wondering.

It’s a camber pin to aid initial alignment. To put it bluntly, they have fitted the wrong top mounts in that case and you should insist on having them replaced with the correct ones

They are from autodoc and i had provided them with all cars details inc. Reg number. but for some odd reason this pin was not in same position as one's that came off.(y) All fitted now and going in for tracking tomorrow so will see how that fairs.
