Having recently discovered the first aid box lurking underneath the passenger seat, I thought it would be a good idea to purchase a second box to fit under the drivers seat for extra useful storage space. It was actaully cheaper to buy a new one from BMW than some sellers are charging on eBay for used ones. However, they also need a bracket, and the daft thing is that the bracket (at around £29) costs more than the box itself!
So I set about designing and 3D printing one, and here's the result:


The brackets are secured with three self tapping screws, which BMW charge over £1 each for - but I discovered that the screws commonly used in kitchen unit hinges have the same thread size, and used those instead . However, after a couple of hours I wished I'd just forked out for the BMW ones! The problem is that the ones I used had Phillips heads, and trying to screw those in upside down was a very frustrating task. The BMW ones have Torx heads, which are therefore much easier to manouevre into position from below!
