E85 EPS ECU Wiring

Hi all, couldn’t find a definitive, maybe someone here might know. Having removed the lid of the EPS ECU there are four wires in each corner not connected. These looked to have failed. I also wondered if they might be ground ling to the aluminium on which the board sits.

Does anyone know??

I appreciate you are trying to fix it, but you should be able to pick up a good secondhand one to fit.
Not sure ECU Testing will repair yours now there's evidence you've opened it up.
 
if it gets binned it gets binned. Rather at least understand the problem. Better to share the knowledge given the realistic value of some of these now 👍

If that's the case, then why not simply connect them up and see what happens?

Or you need to find someone with a U/S one that they are willing to open up and compare with yours.
I have a couple here, but I'm keeping them intact so that if someone's fails and they want ECU Testing to give them one with a lifetime warranty then I can send one of these off, do a straight swap for them and save them having to wait around 4-5 days.
Did one yesterday in fact. Arrived in Southend at 0920, disconnected the battery and had a cup of coffee for a few minutes. Seat out, wheel off (all for access as I'm an old git). Job completed and driven up the road at 1037. Luckily for me it was an automatic. Ther clutch pedal hinders you pulling the motor out on a manual, and adds a couple of minutes.
 
It'll be quite difficult to solder that as you'll have to get the conformal coating off without causing any more damage. Do some tests with a muilitmeter and you should be able to work out if they are grounds or not. Seems unlikely though as it doesn't look like they are soldered to the aluminium.

I think it will work, but how long will be the question.
those rectifiers are designed to break when voltage surge or overheating occurs. i think its the main ic is the issue and needs replacing.

From the picture of other thread/forum, the 4 wires are disconnected. It can't be coincidence that all EPS open up just happen to crack the exact same 4 wire
 
Well in-between all the other jobs I’ve re-instated the links that were broken. It’s an odd failure mode if that is what happens. There must be a fair bit of current to burn them through because it doesn’t look like mechanical strain.

I’d be amazed if they’re down to IC level to repair that board. Capacitors or rectifier I could believe.

I’ll do my best to get it back in this weekend.
