E85 engine bay issues

Hi,

I have been trying to find a wiring diagram for the engine bay on an E85 3.0si but no luck so far. Does anyone have one?

My problem arose from having to repair the cable to the knock sensor. I had no errors before, and then after I'd moved the junction box around to unplug the knock sensors, and then plug them back in again after repair, I ended up with several lights on the dash. I also disconnected the battery before doing anything then reconnected once it was all back in place.

The power steering doesn't work now, it's complaining about the crank signal, the traction light is on and the tyre pressure warning light is on. I may have even forgotten one. My guess is something is unplugged or damaged where I turned the junction box over, so wanted a diagram to at least make sure what should be plugged where.

The car runs and I had to drive it to work and back, it's just a pain because of the steering and it takes quite a few turns to start. I also can't communicate with the Tire module, so maybe that's one of wiring the issues.

Been out to scan the car this afternoon and now I can't communicate with the steering module, the steering sensor, the central body module and a few others which I could do before.

I'm going to be removing the intake to check under there as I did the knock sensors with it in situ. I did also notice when doing it that the junction box had silicon plastered on it, so I guess that has been cracked at some point.

Afternoon

Stating the obvious- but relevant

You’ve clearly disrupted something in the process… go back and check/revert everything to as was?

You say you repaired the cable- are you happy you haven’t caused a grounding issue by doing that?

I plan to, as I had to do it as quick as possible to get to work. Managed to get my big hands in without stripping the intake out. My money is something happening in the twisting of the junction box, which I'd have to do even if the intake wasn't in the way but something must have come adrift or broken. Was hoping a wiring diagram might help me in the diagnosis.

I'm confident the wiring is ok, it's only two cores, white and black. I soldered and used heatshrink to protect the repairs. I also don't have any knock errors on cylinders 1 to 3 any more.

Ok, back on it now the weather is nice.

The starter trigger wire had also been attacked by the rats. Fixed that, and I've tried starting it with the knock sensors disconnected to rule that out.

Amazingly it started with the inlet manifold removed, but the same fault lights return. On starting the battery the voltage drops to about 10.5V, so is this what is causing the fault in the modules?

I still can't reach some modules although I did check the steering angle sensor, and the electronic power steering through INPA. The sensor showed no error codes, and the power steering had fault code 6121, which also shows low voltage.

At the moment I am charging the battery and I have removed the negative from the battery to the chassis as it was nice and corroded, although my insulation tester showed no resistance, even on 50V.

Still no further forward, could this be the infamous ignition switch? Although the car does start, eventually, and I thought if the ignition switch was going it caused no start issues.
