E85 Clear rear lights (Orange brake?)

SOMETHING NOT RIGHT ABOUT THESE, SELLER ADAMANT THESE ARE GENUINE AMBER BRAKE LENSES???? WHY HAVE AMBER BRAKES?

Hi all,

I have the chance to purchase some clear/white indicator rear lights, but the seller says they have orange outers?
I think these are the german crystal type rear clusters and someone has painted them red but I think the red tint is faded, I'm could completely wrong... any ideas guys and gals :?

and are they worth £110? :|

They're tinted clear lights. I've got a set that I'm re tinting as they have faded, similar to yours (but not as bad).

A re tint with some red tinting spray, then lacquer will sort it out

I wouldnt offer £10 never mind adding another digit

You on drugs? All they need is a coat of tint spray at a cost of £5.

Adamski is correct, they're faded because someone tinted them and didn't apply lacquer afterwards.

Mine were the same. I re-done them giving 3 coats of tint spray, then some lacquer and they've been fine for nearly a year now.

@ben

read the line underneath the pics, hence my £10 remark

Drugs? er...

Had a call yesterday from the seller and asked if I wanted the lights still?? Said wasn't sure as they have faded, the seller agreed to send them to me to have a look, said I could have them for £80... So today I received them....Paid £65 in the end after a few negotiations!

I spent about an hour cleaning off the old tint and the results are :o

Marius, what did you use to tint your front lights?

From what I can make out you split then & then tinted the hockey sticks directly...buy what product did you use?

Think yours look great & want to do the same with mine.

Cheers

Good bargain, the seller clearly had no idea they could be redone.

I would retint, the clear look is a touch too aftermarket really. :)

Re did mine the other week too, they look much better when they're fresh

Adamski is right, I did 5 sets in 2010 plus my own which still look fresh in 2013, but my car is kept in a dark secret cave, for only the sacred few to behold.. (Well OK, just I never figured how to do the pics thing on here  )
Good prep, roughing up the surface until milky with a Scotchbrite pad before, and between coats is essential to prevent peeling/flaking, but UV is something else. If its a street car, it will need tinting every couple of years.
Plenty of threads on here how to do it properly with coats of clear acrylic after. Mine still look red, smooth and shiny after 3 years. IMHO, the roundels look better than the. "Square-peg-in-a-round-hole" so-called facelift rears, and the same goes for the front bumper "improvements" too, only my opinion, of course, each to his own!

The 100% de-ginger is the best upgrade I ever did to my '03, takes years off the car.

I'm sooo with you there mate! I much prefer the pre-facelift rear clusters once de-ginged. Glad we aren't all of the sane view tho; it's what majes the forum so interesting! :D
