E85 Bluetooth music streaming

Hey guys, I have an '03 Z4 and up until recently I've been quite happy using a Belkin FM transmitter to listen to music of my iPod over the stereo.
However, no I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 Android phone which my old fm-transmitter won't work for for the obvious reason that the connector will not fit.
Secondly, there seem to be no decent docks or single-cord transmitter/charger solutions available for this phone and ideally I'd like to avoid having to use two cords (one to charge other for line-out) if possible. I already feel having the single cord is hassle enough :P

So what I am wondering is what would be the best possible solution to retro fit bluetooth audio for my car?
Are there any OEM modules available that would support this? Any third-party modules that are known to work?

Any other insights, ideas or decent solutions to this "problem" would be greatly appreciated :)

Cheers guys,
Ulfur

Dont use bluetooth but i do use this:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-E85-Z4-02-06-AUX-Mode-Cable-3-5mm-Jack-MP3-mobile-phone-etc-/300827152654?

Simple to connect to the back of the radio, i have the DSP Carver system and works fine. You get a lead with a jack plug, i threaded it into my glove box. Once there you can plug it straight into the earphone socket of iphone, ipod, or my Samsung S11 Works perfect!

Yeah, unless someone comes up with something better I think that might work even though it doesn't quite get around "the two-cord problem" :P
However, now I'm thinking I might get one of these as well: http://www.ebay.com/itm/White-Universal-Desktop-Charger-Dock-Aux-Samsung-Galaxy-S3-III-/130734259972 Tear it apart and use the parts to in conjunction with the aux cable to make a full on in-car dock for my phone :P

Also, does anyone have any advice on how I might hook something like this up to 12v to retrofit a permanent USB port in the ashtray compartment?

Thinking it should be fairly easy to access the wires to the 12v "cigarette lighter" port already there but would def. appreciate if someone told me that was a dumb idea :P

I use one of these. BMW do a similar thing for around £22.

Yeah, I was going to (and probably still will) get one of those.
However, as I am looking to minimize cord clutter it would be quite sweet to splice together this:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/iSimple-12-Volt-Battery-to-5-Volt-USB-Charger-IS43-/290760591774?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item43b2ae899e
with this:

and this:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-E85-Z4-02-06-AUX-Mode-Cable-3-5mm-Jack-MP3-mobile-phone-etc-/290854502740?pt=UK_In_Car_Technology&hash=item43b8478154

This way one could have a single usb port hidden away in the ashtray area and by plugging a single cord between this port and the phone you could have it both hooked up to aux and charing.
I know I'm over-engineering a pretty simple problem with limited returns but I feel the end result just might be cool enough to be justifiable :P

This setup should be fairly future proof as well as micro-usb is now the standard norm for non-apple mobile connectors and it would leave the "ligher port" free for anything else.

You really need a socket like:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-Genuine-In-Car-AUX-Connector-Retrofit-Kit-5-6-Series-X3-X5-Z4-65120153502-/160891429946?pt=UK_In_Car_Technology&hash=item2575e0643a

This is expensive though. I just bought a 3.5mm jack socket for a couple of pounds from Maplins and made my own cable up. You could replace the plug on the cable you are looking at with a socket.

Put it on the panel above yhr ashtray.

Thanks bladeowner, I'd seen those input jack mods before.
This is probably what I will end up with:

This kit for USB power:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/iSimple-12-Volt-Battery-to-5-Volt-USB-Charger-IS43-/290760591774?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item43b2ae899e

This kit for AUX in:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-E85-Z4-02-06-AUX-Mode-Cable-3-5mm-Jack-MP3-mobile-phone-etc-/290854502740?pt=UK_In_Car_Technology&hash=item43b8478154

Tuck them side-by-side in an out-of-the-way location (in ashtray, glovebox, center console or under dash) and then hook them up to my phone using this:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Car-AUX-Audio-Output-Cable-USB-Charger-Cable-For-Sam-sung-S3-i9300-i9220-i9100-/111008283080?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item19d89bf9c8&autorefresh=true

As cool as it would be to have it all combined in a single USB socket this is probably the easier solution.

I did exactly this for my IPhone in my 330D a couple of years back. Worked really well, as long as the top of the phone is supported against movement.

My rental car in Florida recently was a Prius (what joy!). One good feature about it (the only good feature) was the blue tooth. When i got into the car it automatically started to play where it had left off from. When I left the car, it switched off (i.e. paused) the music player on my Iphone. Brilliant!

Yeah my girlfriend's new Fiesta does the same thing - hooks up to the phone straight away and lets you control the music from the steering wheel! A shame there's nothing to retrofit that allows this for the Z4 :(
