i cant even see where the wires go to it tbh! i need the wheel off properly to have a good look! (i was doing this in a car park lol)

The Supplier is still adamant that they do not need resistors. i still feel the issue could be my non connected red and white wire!

One the bottom of your headlight you have three pairs of thin black and red wires, they are the supplies to the two halos (probably the outer pairs) and the led (probably the center pair). If you have them connected to the sidelight, and the sidelight has a functioning bulb, there should be no need for a resistor and it seems you have.

yes i believe you are right which is what keeps bringing me back to the fact that i have a non connected red a white wire on the drivers side. i cant seem to find out what this wire is for!
 
Looking at the first photo in the thread

I dont see and red/white wire connected to the original plug. Where did you get the new loom from, could it be the wrong one? Do you still have the old plug which hopefully still has the truncated original airing?

If not perhaps someone on here could take a photo of their plug so you can see which wires should be there and hopefully you could trace and compare/correct your wiring

the wire is coming from the car so it definitely had a space in the original plug which we had to cut off. it was when we came to wire the new plug on that we noticed that in the wiring for the plug there was no corresponding wire to connect it back up to like the others
 
An other stupid suggestion! I have presumed that you have actually checked for failed bulbs elsewhere eg in the rear light clusters. Have you actually checked?

Do you still have access to this extra wire, and a multimeter? Seems like this wire should be connected up; do you know where it goes to in the new loom, or is it just not connected up? It may be as simple as providing a resistor bridge between this wire and an earthed wire - have you tried that?

yes, if i take the wheel off then i should be able to untape it and get access to it. ive got no idea where is goes in the new loom but i think the best option is to take a look at the passenger side and see if there is one there! if so i can see where is should be. can you explain a bit more about the resistor bridge? sorry im no electrician! ive been told also that if its 12+ then i need to earth it, apparently this can be done by attaching it to the body of the car, although im not keen on doing this. If its 12- then i need to wire it to a live feed?
 
So, the red/white wire is from the loom, and does not go into the headlight? Is that correct?
Also, the wires that are connected up - are there any that have been paired together into the headlight? Also, is there a red/white on each side, or just one side?
I would have thought that the voltage on that cable would be 12, 6 or 0 - I can't see where you would get a -ve 12 from?
The resistor bridge is a resistor, connected in parralel, across a light bulb, that fools the canbus system. As mentioned before, I have a couple free...

ok so ive managed to get all the lights on the dash off and they are working well! but i do need to confess my stupidity!!

now i had checked all the lights! i did this during the day! this lead me to miss the fact that i had a number plate and rear fog light out! took the car to a friends garage! had new brighter headlight bulbs fitted, had the beams adjusted correctly and had all the faulty bulbs replaced and boom all fixed!

the red and white wire must not be that important lol! and no resistors needed!
