just spoke with Fiona at 2xcite and she seemed to think that the units shouldnt cause any lights on the dash? slightly confused now. she gave me the slight impression that these headlights came with resistors built in but i'm unsure.

ok well after having a look at the lights it seems the sidelight cannot be removed so my purchase of some resistors was pointless! this leave only 2 remaining solutions to getting rid of the "bulb Out" light on the dash! the drivers side H7 bulb had quite a bit of rust on it! however it still works and some replacement bulbs are on their way! could rust cause the system to think a bulb is out? the second point is that as i had to wire in a new harness there was an extra red and white cable that had no place to go, i believe it could have been for the additional indicator bulb in the standard lights. my mechanic just taped this up along with the rest of the wires?

really could do with some guidance on this right now!

the loose red and white wire in question is the one shown in this picture! i have no idea what it does!

could this be why the light is on the dash? if it is for the second indicator bulb could i chock black it onto the plugged indicator wire? anyone got a detailing wiring diagram for the headlights?
 
Hi, I've just got some lights similar to those, I think the problem lies as you are already aware that the sidelight uses a led rather than a bulb, so in theory all you need to do is trick it into thinking the bulb is still there i.e. with a resistor. You have to be careful here as the resistor can become very hot, so a calculation is required,(ohms law), as to what size resistor is required, and with it being an led as opposed to a bulb the resistor should go in series rather than in parallel.
I could be wrong here as I only picked mine up yesterday and haven't had time to fit until next week.
Either way it can be sorted I'm sure, and worse case scenario I think that you may just have to wire a bulb holder in behind the light fitting off of the sidelight led and put the sidelight bulb in making the computer think it's still connected and ok.
It will be late next week when I fit mine, so should be able to assist more once I get a proper look, you may have sorted before and if you do please share your findings, as it helps others.
Are you wiring them so they come on when you lock/unlock car as well? should be nice when complete, they certainly look good fitted. :)

thanks for your advice! although im no car electrician! i simply wired mine into the sidelights, didn't think about wiring them into the lock/unlock!

i'm thinking that i can just choc block the spare wire into the other indicator wire?
 
Look nice : ) iam thinking of getting the same as my drivers original lens is full of condensation all the time : ( ive looked on 2xcite and they don't seem to have these? but u can get shipped from America on ebay I might give xcite a bell to see when these are back in stock : )

These really are good lights and Fiona at 2x cite has been great in helping me out with everything from start to now
 
Off the wall idea. If you use canbus aware LED such as these http://my-car-bulbs.co.uk/501-led-canbus-enabled-white-sidelight-bulbs 'the right way around' (LED lights are polarity aware) they work and DONT give bulb out messages, (I'm currently using them in my OEM headlights and they work without any bulb out warnings).

So if you install them the 'the wrong way round' they wont work but could the built in circuitry still suppress the bulb out warning?

Anybody care to try!

Could be worth a try Norman, I'll be fitting yours(, mine now), :D next week so will try the resistor method first which I'm sure will work fine, but if not I'll look into those.
Thanks by the way for the donor headlight, intend on making a video of the cutting up procedure and also for the made up hockey sticks, (if they work).

that is a good idea and ive had some resistors delivered today myself! BUT if you are using headlights supplied by 2xcite like me then the sidelights are sealed inside and cannot be removed! i called and spoke with them this afternoon and Fiona who works there confirmed that the sidelights are sealed. i asked what would happen if the bulb blew and she confirmed that they use the best quality LEDs and have a 50,000 hour life and would never blow!

I think she must be talking about the 2 LEDs

Inside the 2excite headlights (and mine were by the same manufacturer) there are 8 light sources, 1 flasher, 1 H7, 1 H1, 2 halos, two leds (between the Halos) and one 501 sidelight bulb immediately above the Halos.

The Halos and the leds cannot be user replaced, all the other bulbs can be. Poor photo of the back of the light, below, shows a black and a white lead entering the top and these terminate in the sidelight socket where you will/should find a 501 capless bulb


These even worse photo shows the sidelight illuminated with a LED
 
You don't have to wire the resister directly at the sidelight bulbs or leds anywhere in the sidelight wiring would work. Probably where you originally wired the leds in before you fitted them.
 
im going to try replace the rusted drivers side H7 bulb first and see what that does! if it doesnt fix it then ill look to try and sort out the red and white wire that has just been taped up. 2xcite advised me these are completely plug and play and that no resistors are needed so dont think the LEDs are the issue tbh

Um, guys - as mentioned above by me, and in the eBay listing posted by Nova, ... Also it is the nature of the load resistor to get hot while in use so please do not affix to plastic. I would not put them inside the headlight as it will deform and melt the housing - they get really hot! You should look into some type of heat sink and place them outside the headlight housing.

not really sure what option i have! the resistors i have are made of plastic themself so unsure how hot they are actually going to get tbh! might just test them to see if it turns the light of the dash! to be clear can someone confirm for me that the LEDs in these lights are the ones that sit in the middle between the main beam and the halos? are these accessed through the rubber cover on the back?
 
Well I have just tried to find the source of these LEDs and I can't see where they come from at all

You don't need to put the resistor in the headlight, just across the wires that feed the led before they enter the headlight itself.
These will get red hot so I intend on mounting them away from as much as possible and possibly in a ceramic casing.
