E85 Airbag light - passenger occupancy sensor issue?

Hello everyone,
I'm new to the forum. I've just bought myself my second Z4 and love it but an airbag light has popped up when my wife moved the passenger seat.

I've disconnected and reconnected the cables under the seat as it look like an issue related to the passenger side. After a reset the problem went away for a while and now after my wife sat in the seat its trigged again.

Occasionally the 'passenger seat occupied, seatbelt not on' warning comes up for a few seconds when the seats unoccupied.

The codes I get are: 9893, 9891, 9862.

I have the same issue and reached out to BMW CustomerRelations here in the USA , and this was the meat of their reply...

Supplemental Restraint System's (SRS) front passenger air bag seat occupancy sensor (OC3) mat to 15 years, without mileage limitation, as determined from the original in-service date

and as it turns out, mine is under warranty till next year.

So I now have an appointment with my local BMW dealership to get it repaired
