E85 Airbag coding req

Hi all, first time post. Is anyone near Wigan that can help recode an airbag module to my vehicle. The dash light came on suddenly, and the error codes point to the satellite on the drivers B pillar. I have sourced a replacement from fleabay, but the “experts” I gave them to, (to copy the vin settings across) haven’t been able to access either of them. They have never tried it before, so that might be the reason for the failure rather than both being faulty. I have read that people have had success in the past and listed all sorts of software, but not found where to get it from. Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance, John

Welcome aboard.
Try speaking to [ref]street[/ref]. He's in Newcastle so not on your doorstep, but he does know what he's doing.
You will need 3 posts to PM him, but I've referenced him so he should see it.

I’ve dropped you a note John to see if I can help you remotely. Wigan <> Newcastle is a canny hike though so if you don’t fancy wrestling it yourself Somebody might shout out who’s closer.

Hi Street and enuff_zed and thank you for taking the time to PM me. I can't reply yet as I guess I haven't posted enough, but wondered if this can only be done on the vehicle, as it doesn't have an MOT due to the airbag light. I wasted the month's grace on the old MOT with a local "expert" and now it is SORNed. If it is possible to clone the data off the vehicle (as i was told it could be), I would be happy to send both units and pay for the job. I wouldn't ask anyone to come to the Wigan area from Newcastle unless they required a large qty of coffee, biscuits and a large bottle of something amber or pale (their choice) to wash the biscuits down with

with regard to the software element, I am happy to try to do the job myself, and have a spare Micro$oft device on which to load it. If someone can point me in the right direction to buy the necessary hardware..........thanks in advance, John

Have a read of this: https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=133897

If you can connect the car on the drive within range of Wi-Fi I could Remote Desktop and help.

heres the link to the procedures to code the airbag module https://docs.google.com/document/d/1LdQXN4JM8V0-s6Xa_E9ZeMlkED_i9vpm/edit?usp=drive_link&ouid=108212968183301953622&rtpof=true&sd=true

Thanks mac - hoping to try to sort this out this weekend with remote help from street. If that doesn’t work, your link may help. Cheers.

I have spent a couple of hours trying to recode an SBSL module and it failed to keep the system time every time I did it.
I eventually found the issue so thought I'd flag it up here.
I was using the instructions in this link.
I'm not sure if it was my misunderstanding though tbh:

At the very last step where you start the system time it says (no arguments). I took that to mean I had to delete the '1' that I'd put in a couple of steps earlier.
In fact, you need to leave that '1' in the 'argument' box and it all works fine.
