E85 3.0si Vibration

Have an issue with the beloved E85 3.0si - 40,000 miles.

It started with propshaft spitting out two bolts caused by centre bearing failure. Sourced replacement prop complete with good centre bearing and very good rubber doughnut, from breaker with car said to have done 41,000 miles. Fitted, new wheels and tyres all four corners (less than 250 miles all round) and front balanced again last week (not much weight added), all seemed well.......but.......

Took car from Staffordshire to Snowdon for a little walk up the mountain - its first "fast" outing since prop fitted, new wheels, tyres and balancing. From low speed to 75 all is well, 80 car starts to vibrate, (on the autobahn to Snowdon) the car shakes pretty violently between 80 and 90......kph :driving: for any police interest!!

Z gone to BM specialist along with my old prop, knackered bearing and good doughnut. Full inspection carried out; suspension, wheels, tyres, wheel bearings, gearbox (manual), engine mounts etc etc etc - all in good health.

Prop being taken off, original one being balanced, new bearing to be fitted with original doughnut, carefully refitting my original gear. Waiting to hear outcome end of week, trusted, well respected BM specialist.

Any thoughts from expert minds.....?

Thx

Can you refit your old wheels & tyres to discount the new ones before you start throwing large sums of money at it?
Check the simple things first

Rob,
Sold wheels to forum member but new wheels were fine pre propshaft issue. I did fit two new front tyres as the old ones sat on the car in the garage for a few weeks in same position, there was some thought I'd got flat spots (car did 1500 miles only between MOT's).

Wheels have balanced up without issue so we are thinking its prop related but you make a very valid point to check the simple things first (and protect the wallet). I'm with you on that one for sure!

Many thx
