Hello,
I thought I’d reach out to the community once again for some top notch advice before I make a decision on how best to proceed.
This morning, it was very cold so I went to top up my screen wash with neat concentrate to prevent freezing damage. However, I noticed that there was some dark goopy baked on residue just below the plastic cylinder head cover. The residue was not there when I bought the car, some eight months ago and the oil cap is free from the dreaded ‘milky death’.
I’ve being doing some research and I think the Valve Cover Gasket (OEM Part 11127582245) might be slightly leaky. The car runs fine, slight rough idle which would only further the case for the dodge gasket, but this clears over time.
A bit about the car, 3.0si bought at 79k miles now at 85k eight months ago. Runs well apart from what I’ve noticed today.
My plan is to decrease the engine and monitor to see if the residue returns, then I’ll get it checked out or attempt a DIY repair.
Any advice on other causes of what this could be please? No fault codes are tripped when I use my basic OBDII reader.
I’ll sort out some photos when I can.
Cheers,
Dan.
