E85 3.0i M54 Black Sapphire

I have decided to have one more go at offering one of my ‘rescues’ to the forum first.
This time it is a very nice Black Sapphire 3.0i with a mere 90,038 miles on it’s M54 engine. (This may go up a little bit as I have promised to take it back for the previous owner to see before it moves on.) It sits on an extremely clean set of 17 inch ‘daisies’ with Goodyear Assy 6 front tyres. The rears are ‘Autogreen’?? All four have good tread and are 225/45 x 17.
This car first came to my attention just over a year ago when the previous owner asked me to replace a failed right satellite airbag module and the yaw sensor. Whilst in his ownership I have also relocated the roof motor to the boot, replaced the door membranes and fitted all new Brembo brake discs and pads.
I then took on the car myself to continue it’s ‘mid-life update’.
In the last couple of months, I have overhauled the front and rear suspension, using Bilstein B4 dampers on the front and Sachs on the rear as I had a new pair already. Lemforder top mounts and Febi Bilstein bump stops were fitted, plus the obligatory new front knuckle bolts. The front ARB drop links had been replaced within the previous 12 months. Whilst under the back the roof drain bungs were removed, and the drains checked and found clear.
The DISA valve has been modified with metal internal parts and the vanos received an overhaul with new seals. The rocker cover gaskets were renewed at the same time.
As the loom was all in place I upgraded the seats to heated and memory ones, using a refurbished pair from Rob (Usel). The switch panel was replaced with one including the heated seat switches. Whilst the seats were out, the airbag modules and the yaw sensor were sealed inside poly bags as a bit of futureproofing against any damp issues. The carpets were given a deep clean too.
The air conditioning works well and is ice cold.
The roof had a patch repair on the driver’s side, so a replacement roof has been fitted.
The previous owner had bought the car from his son, who lives on the Isle of Man. Because of this it had to be ‘imported’ and there is very little MOT history. I do have a folder with various receipts, mostly for work done since it came over here, including a new windscreen.
EDIT: Almost forgot.......it comes with two keys.
As I was fortunate enough to acquire this car relatively cheaply, and save money by doing all the work myself, I am able to offer it at what I think is a very good price to forum members.
£3300.

I assume that the rest of the wind deflector is in the boot storage as it has the brackets for it?

That looks an excellent car with decent mileage and very good price.

That is indeed a bargain. Please fix the rear number plate!
I only noticed that after I'd posted the ad.
This is why I major in oily bits, not bodywork and cosmetics.
I'll jack up the right a bit.

Wow! That really is a bargain Martin. Anybody looking for a cheap 3litre would be hard pushed to find better value for money. Especially knowing your reputation on the Forum. GLWTS.

That looks superb-

Goes without saying that Martin is very diligent so it will be a cracking car: get it bought folks

GLWS

I’d expect to see 150,000 miles at that price. Bargain, and all the work done too
Well I can run it around the block a bit for you? :D

But in all seriousness: I'm sure people realise by now that I'm in this as a hobby, not just for profit. I save cars that may otherwise have been thrashed or broken and hope to see them go to a good home, for someone that otherwise could not afford to buy one of that quality.
The first one I did was a 2.2i. I'll always remember the young lad turned up with his dad to view it. The reason they took it was that the price difference was enough to cover the increase in his insurance. He went away happy and I felt good about it.
My brief from 'management' is "don't lose money". Apart from that, as long as it keeps me occupied and I can watch people drive away smiling then I'm happy.

Well done Martin, this has been the mantra I’ve followed into my project. Hoping to do many more in the future.

Another well sorted Z4 that's looking great. A real bargain for a 3 litre - someone get it bought!

That car is a years Council Tax for me.
I know which is better value for money....and it ain't the Council Tax!
