E85 3.0i jerky throttle help needed. Now sorted.

Help needed. I have a E85 3.0i and has developed a jerky throttle at low revs, fine at higher revs and seems to only to do it when giving it light throttle like pulling away at Jun tons etc Any ideas? Been using shell v power petrol recently too Which I'm sure would make no difference right?

All sorted now due to help from the guys on UK Z4 forum on Facebook. waste of time posting on here third time Iv had a question and not received an answer or offered any advice. Having been on many car forums this one has been a big disappointment. :thumbsdown:

I think a lot of folk don't respond as things have been covered many times and a quick search would find what you need. Either that or we are a miserable bunch of scrotes who delight in the wallowing misery of struggling owners (probably).....

Guessing you did a throttle reset using the ignition sequence? Either way, it'd be nice to know.

ok it was an easy fix in the end as someone told me it could be 1 of 3 items at fault. dirty MAF sensor, spark plugs or coil packs I was told start with cleaning the MAF with a cleaner if you still have problem then replace the spark plugs and again if still faulty replace the coil packs. For me it was a dirty MAF once cleaned the fault had gone!
Watched a clip on utube on how to clean the MAF very easy.

I tried the throttle reset first as read it on here and although it did not cure the fault it did feel like the car was more responsive on the throttle.

For me the fault was a dirty MAF. Once cleaned the car is smooth again.

Sometimes posts just get missed. There are very few threads that get no response. Posting at the weekend when the weather was cracking also won't get a huge response as most are :driving: making the most of that rare sunshine.

Thanks for the update, never expected it to be a dirty MAF sensor! They're pretty industrial on the M54 as opposed to the rubbish VW use!

Have you used an oiled cotton air filter on the car at all? Those are usually the culprit for MAF contamination.

I must give mine a spray..

Over the years I have added updates to 'tech issues' without any further replies to those seeking help............... That's life.
As srhutch says timing doesn't always help either.
I have had some very detailed help on tech issues on this site and even though I presently don't own a Z I am still prepared to help from my personal experience. ................I thought they all did that at low rev's btw :rofl:

Thank you for this. Never encountered this before in our Z but will know now to check for a dirty MAF sensor if we have jerky throttle in the future.

Curious to know if a dirty MAS will throw up an error code? Anybody knows?

No I had no warning light on my dash of the fault. I only noticed the hesitation on throttle sometimes as usually this engine is so smooth. Mine has a OM air filter fitted which I changed last year. The previous owner had neglected this Z over the last 3 years of his ownership which reflected in the final selling price. I also had it stored up most of the winter and having just passed its mot with flying colours it goes in for a ful service next week.

Agree with maf being the issue as I had a similar issue during my trip to the ring.

Thought it was the supercharger, injectors, plugs etc.

Car would feel as if timing is being pulled or a misfire or hesitation on acceleration during driving and shitty throttle on start.

Maf was the issue even though it was new so had it swapped.

Not one single code was logged relating to the maf only that torque was being limited within the dme and ews.

Got the maf on an oscilloscope which confirmed after running live diagnosis with the car being driving and logging data to be replayed back.
