E85 3.0 SI prices (up for sale soon)

Holy smokes am i confused.

We're now on our second E85, but it needs to go for the same reason the first went (dogs and kids).

The first was a 2.5, the current is a 3.0 SI, around 80k in the clock, not fiddled with except the roof motor in the boot. The previous owner used to be a forum member as well but had to sell because of babies as well

Quite honest for its age/mileage, a few chips, third break light and fogs could do with replacing.

I'll be listing it in a week or so, but the prices are all over the place. Comparable cars seem to be in the range 7k - 9.5+k

Is this really correct?

But such a range in prices as well. Are the top end priced vehicles selling?

It's Cambridgeshire based so if anyone is looking and wants any info before the listing is up, pm me.

I think a few months ago those prices were what 3.0si were shifting at, but from what I've seen of the market lately with the fininacial crisis even cheap good quality early z4's are becoming increasingly more difficult to sell as folk tighten their belts and driving for pleasure starts becoming a very expensive hobby. Personally imho 7k now is top dollar for your car..you can try listing it higher and see if you get bites and then lower it if not..glwts

This 100% the market has definitely started to soften and I think we are all in for a bit of a bumpy ride ahead with cost and living and fuel prices like they are.

Soon I think z4 prices will be at similar or lower than the levels pre Covid unfortunately.

Similarly, selling a 135i convertible with 35k miles. Enquiries dried right up, wish I'd accepted offers of 10k back in April.

But this thread has raised a valid point: Whatever I buy next should be cheaper than it was a few months ago...

Its definitely a tricky market for sellers currently, the likes of WBAC prices etc have dropped significantly too which is usually a general rule of thumb to how the market is.

I am looking to buy a zed or gt86 but not rushing into buying something in the current situation unless its perfect price vs spec and condition etc

I definitely agree with this statement. I was watching an online auction at the weekend (not to buy anything but just for something to do) and many cars weren’t meeting their reserve and remain unsold. Sellers will either need to manage their expectations against the current market or if they can, play the long game and wait it out to see if prices bounce back. I doubt they’ll get back to last years levels. Folks couldn’t go abroad on holiday and had money burning a hole in their pocket. Not so this year.

The slide has been on for some months & right now is only going one way , take a scroll through the forum classifieds , barring one that is marked "Sold " the first 25-30 or so listings are all vehicles still "For Sale" :( that wasn't the case 6 month ago , prices were strong & sales were quick .

Yes mate , been Z free for a few years now :( had 997 C4 then the TTRS .
M4 was a dream car , saw they were on the slide late last year & into this year whilst the TTRS values were strong so made the switch Feb 2022 & no regrets so far , its a fantastic machine .

In 2019, 3.0si were about 6k. I was half looking at the time but didn’t buy and then all hell broke lose. The cars are 3 years older now and getting more ropey from what I see and are not selling at the peak prices any more.

This is the issue, they are older cars now and do need maintenance unfortunately.

There is lots of them for sale which haven't been maintained too well and people are still asking top money for them even though they'd need a fair bit of cash to bring them up to standard.

The m4 is a cracking car to be fair and decent value too, I thought you'd always have a zed to tinker with along the way. Have you done anything to the m4?

I agree - when I see cars for sale at about £2.5 - £3k over their value (in my eyes) with rust, dents and items not working (you know the one ), I would buy something different if I wanted an “ok” car.

That's the issue, rust is quite a bit thing on these too these days it seems.

I think a lot of people bought them when they were cheap, haven't maintained them overly well and now want to try and get out with a profit before the market plummets. I think we will see plenty of sub £6k SI's over the new few months, I am holding out for the right car at the right price whenever that may be.

I have found similar things with GT86's as well plenty for sale with missing services and broken bits, I thought my 330i current daily needed a few bits work but it looks mint in comparison to some of the things I am seeing for sale currently!

Are you still rocking the 911?

Yep, 911 doing very well thanks. It will stay with me forever together with the Golf, probably like your M3.

Like you, I see good cars (Non Z) for sale in perfect condition at the 4-5k mark hence me not throwing myself into a Z at this price bracket. I too am expecting the 3.0si to be around the 5k mark and that is when I would consider to get one and bring it to my standard.

M4 all ive done is had the secondary cats removed

The right Si 86 at the right £££ would interest me , ideally one ive previously owned will surface at some point

Interesting that the price point is the same as 3 years ago, but them being in a significantly better condition and with much lower miles than we see now.

Bet the M4 sounds nice …

Yeah id' like a small project to bring up to my standard like yourself and i'd like to daily drive one, the m3 is always going to be a keeper I may sell it for a GT4 one day but that's unlikely to be anytime soon, its an awesome car and genuinely nothing comes close to it near its price point.

Nice i bet that has freed up a bit more noise too :)

It looks like PVR, Yourself and i would all go back into zed ownership for the right cars haha they do seem to offer a fairly unique experience.

Interesting comments, thanks guys.

We tend to hold onto our cars for a long time, so I don't watch what's happening however Mrs G has declared more practicality is needed.

I'll probably list it at 7k and see what happens. At the end of the day it's only worth what someone is willing to pay.

(PVR, you've been here literally decades, there's still a few names that are familiar from when I used to lurk more often)
