Evening all, after 3 trouble free years my 2004 3.0 has developed a problem.

Took it out for a 3 mile drive to the shop, parked up, shopped and back in the car. Orange power steering light on the dash, very heavy steering, sport button not working.

All fuses are in tact, any suggestions or known problems?

I had exactly this a couple of years ago, it was the electric power steering motor ECU had failed. I removed the EPS motor and and sent it to ECU testing. Less than a week later I had it back in and all was fine

You need to put a code reader on it. Could be the ecu as mentioned above but could also be the torque sensor. The steering angle sensor usually brings on other lights such as tyre pressure warning and DSC.

Had this problem back in the summer.

Mine failed while in sport mode and the result was no power steering and the sport button would not turn off.

Checked the fuse and battery which was fine. Sent the power steering module to ECUtesting and all is well again.

Ross from RBM hampshire removed and refitted the module for me after a local mechanic couldn't do it.
