E85 3.0 doesn’t like standing water

Hi all. My 2003 e85 3.0 doesn’t seem to like standing water on the roads. I try to avoid it as much as possible obviously, but if I drive through a puddle the engine will cut out and loads of warning lights including abs, traction, eml etc come on. Is there anywhere susceptible to water ingress that I need to be looking at protecting? Cheers in advance for any help guys. 👍🏻

It might be worth checking your engine under tray to see if anything is missing or broken. That’s designed to deflect water and debris getting into the engine.

I’d also check the abs sensor connectors. Unplug them and apply silicone grease to the contacts and housings. That would explain the warning lights, not sure about the engine cutting out though.

Best to check all your battery connections. In fact do a once over in all the connections that you can easily access.

Is the battery compartment dry?

Does the E85 have an engine ground cable. I had this happen on a Jaguar XJ6 and that was the problem as it was badly corroded.

Our old Clio used to through up three amber's if you drove in through a puddle to fast. I used to pull of and replace one of the hosesnwhen it happend and that cleared it. Never did understand why. Bit of a pain on a daily? Hope you find the case and it's a simple fix.
