E85 2003 3.0 clock reset after battery change

Sorry if this is answered elsewhere, found many posts of people who had done it but not how.

I had a new alternator and battery fitted but it came back with the clock just showing -----

The normal clock setting buttons didn't do anything. Also I read in my searches that other things (like window auto down) etc also can get reset.

Your patient help would be much appreciated.
