e85 2.5si exhaust

I am needing a new exhaust in the West of Scotland for my 56plate z4 2.5si. Seems to be baffles have failed in the back box.

I have had a huge quote for a replacement OEM standard exhaust. Does anyone know of any UK stockist of a good standard exhaust?

Or have any experience of any Glasgow-area expert who if necessary might fabricate a good stainless steel one that isn't too noisy?

Many thanks

From what I can tell, it is extremely rare for the standard exhaust to fail as it’s very well made with decent materials.

The cheapest route would be to grab a used 2.5/3.0si complete exhaust off here or eBay and replace the entire thing.

I was told they are stainless from the factory, that being the reason there are naff all 'cheap' replacements.

But yeah, used ebay exhaust is probably the way forward.

Many thanks both, appreciated.
Will look into used ones.
Do you know if pre-facelift 2.5/3.0 or 3.0si exhausts fit the 2.5si?

Thanks again.
I have posted a 'wanted' on this forum in case anyone czpan help with a backbox.

I see fhere is a 2.5inch stsinless steel system on ebay with jap parts in manchester for £299. Don't know them or if that is too cheap for a full system. Or what it sounds like of course....

Back boxes come up on here for £50 or so quite regularly. Some are modified, so quite loud, but the standard ones come up as well.

I know, I bought (and sold) one earlier this year :)

There's a whole recent thread on here about this exhaust. I think it's called eBay exhaust or something like that. To be honest I found it too loud on my pre 3.0i and the back boxes look tiny compared to standard. Others love it though so as ever it's very subjective. Its not a straight fit on a post car either although it can be modified to fit fairly easily. Jap parts were absolutely shocking to deal with. By far the worst ebay trader I've dealt with. It took three attempts to for them to get an exhaust in my possession and even then it was only because I turned up at the door saying"where's my exhaust".
Fortunately they were just down the road from me.

Just going back to your existing box. It's not just a case it's been modded in some way is it?

Thanks Mack.
I'm well warned and I'll stay away from Jap Parts then.

The exhaust has definitely deteriorated. The exhaust was v quiet (ironically possibly too quiet I sometimes felt) until the last few months when I noticed it had become louder. Left it until recently when I wanted to find out what the issue was. Garage said immediately it was the exhaust (back box internals)

cheers
