E85 2.5i - wheels dilemma

Gents,

I have a dilemma, I have some aftermarket wheels, and I always like to keep my car as original as I can. So, currently, I have this setup:

It has 225/45/17 - Good Year Eagle F1 ASYMMETRIC 3

And I am considering to buy 205/55/16 wheels:

How does it fit Z4?

What I want is to have all-season Michelin Crossclimate+ tyres on those original 16 wheels and experiment with summer tyres on 17 wheels and use them on the track (so I can change wheels easily).

I am listening to your advice, thank you! :)

Sorry I have no knowledge on fittings etc, but I can say that in my opinion, those new wheels would look much nicer on your car, even as a 16".

16'' were standard, were they not on E85, so no issues with fitting.

Not 100% on tyre size(ings), but looking back at my 16'' wheels, I've got 225/55/16 on all 4 corners.

My comment was more based on not knowing if they were the correct offset for an E85 as it isn't initially clear what car they were off.

Thanks!

So, I could go with these wheels and 225/55/16 ?

JamieIsf: How do they look? To you have any photo maybe? :)

Yes, exactly, without knowing the offset, I was just providing they tyre sizes that my 16'' wheels have.

My wheels are (Were) slightly different style, I'll try and find a photo with them on.

If you want my personal opinion 16' wheels look too small, and you'd be much better off with what you're planning, but 17'' or 18'' wheels.

Thanks, gents, well, I will not get rid of them, I would use them on track, but I would prefer to have a genuine BMW Z4 look, as BMW wanted to look like. :)

They are ok, but not like the original ones. I know, I am in a dilemma as I said. :)

I've got 18'' MV2's in Anthractie, and they look incredible.
If I could work out how to add a picture, I'd add one! :)

Think I've worked it out, find my previous 16'' wheels, and the mcuh better 18'' MV2's..

I like your current after-market wheels too, but then I do like to see something different!

If you don't think 16s would look a bit lost in the arches then buying those wheels for the road and using your 17s for the track would work OK.
But if you get really into track use and want to upgrade the front brakes to 3.0Si ones you'll need at least 17s to clear the calipers!

Ok gents, you convinced me! :) Nice pictures and Zed JamieIsf!
I will forget the idea about 16 inch BMW wheels, and try to find 17 inch at least. I will definitely leave after-market wheels and prepare them for the track.

Also, thanks to Mr Tidy I almost forgot that maybe I will do some brake upgrades and I will need more space on the wheels.
