E85 - 2.5 / 3.0 budget 6500

Hi there,

I have been keeping a keen eye on the market around buying a 2.5 / 3.0 the last couple of months, and thought digging into a forum and putting a request out might be the next port of call.
Ideally looking for something with a manual box, red leather interior and as low a mileage as possible. I'm quite keen to hold out for exactly the right car, however will be more than happy to have a look what anyone might have for around this price.

I look forward to your reply.

Cheers,

Thomas

I bought exactly what you’re after for my father in law only yesterday!

Just to give you an idea of what’s about he paid £5700 for the below:

2006 facelift 2.5SI
Manual
41k
2 owners
Black with red leather.

Was looking for a while - not a lot about worth having from what I viewed unfortunately.

To be honest thats exactly the kind of thing i was looking for. Shame you got there before me because that sounds as though it would have been perfect!
He doesn't want to sell it for profit does he? :-D
Never mind!

I could be tempted to sell mine. 2007 3.0si. low miles at 84K, nice spec with VERY rare and sought after aero skirts. exactly the same colour combo. black with red leather. also has the rare piano black interior.

I'm moving abroad in a few weeks. had planned not to sell the car originally. was going to sorn it and leave it on a family members driveway so i had a car as soon as im back, but i could be tempted to let it go for £6K.

its not in absolutely perfect condition. the wheels need a refurb and there is a little bit of laquer peel in a couple of places (not huge, could be corrected). has aftermarket german Hub alloys on it. MOT till May next year, serviced in May this year as well. Mechanically its bang on.

attachments show a couple of photos just after the car had wheels and skirts fitted. I'll try and get some more recent ones soon if i can. 20170228_114805_1.jpg

Hi and welcome.

FWIW I wouldn't worry too much about mileage - 84K on a 12 year old car is low mileage. And a 3.0Si facelift is as good as it gets if you don't count the M!

I sold an E91 325i with the same engine as the 2.5Si earlier this year that had done 139K and still ran really well. Only because I wanted a 330i, and that is running great on 109K miles.

Part of the issue lies with insurance for the 3.0si unfortunately! This puts the 3.0si a little bit out of question unfortunately

fair play. if you change your mind, i've now put it up for sale. ad here with new pics:

Hi Thomas

I have a 2004 2.5 with 60k on the clock.

It is in Stirling Grey with Red Leather seats.

It also has the matching Hardtop with all the side covers.

If you are interested, drop me a PM and I can send some photos over?

Regards, Karl

Hi Thomas

The weather is pretty awful but I tried taking a few pics just to show you what the Zeds like.

We bought her for my wife's 40th bday in 2016 when it had 52k on the clock, it is now on 60k so she has had just 8k during our 3 years of ownership.

Maintenance wise, it has been serviced annually despite the low miles. This has been done through a mixture of BMW Specialists and Halfords Autocentre, the latter for convenience more than anything else.
When I picked her up, there were some warning lights on the dash and they were diagnosed as ABS senor fault which were replaced promptly.
The front bushes were also flagged up at the last MOT as advisory so again I had them replaced right away.
As I am not too great with a spanner, I have left the car as original as possible. The only mods I have carried out were:

Relocation of the roof motor to the boot
Added rear parking sensors (professionally installed)
Replace gearknob with oem part from BMW
Change of alloys from the standard 108s to 107s

The alloys were only changed a month ago, reason being it wasn't cost effective to refurbish the old 108s and I managed to pick up the 107s for a good price. Before I put them on, they were professionally powdered coated and re-sprayed.

As I mentioned in my original post, I also have the Hardtop in the matching colour. It is currently stored away in the garage for the summer and I can assure you it is also in immaculate condition. It also comes with the side covers once the Hardtop is on the car which makes it nice and neat.

As this is a total package and with the Hardtop, the car can be driven all year round.
If you are interested, I am looking at £6,000 for both the car and the Top.

My location is CW12, which is in Cheshire/ South Manchester.

Let me know your thoughts.

Regards, Karl.

My Zed was once bitten by a radio-active spider :D

All sorted now

Apparently the pics should be taken in Landscape Mode with the Home button on the right, never too old to learn!
