E5C7 CID: Communication: IBUS transmit fault

Installed my refurbished MSport steering wheel and reconnected the battery,
After C110+ scanning, the following code came up…
E5C7 CID: Communication: IBUS transmit fault
Cleared it and seems to be gone now, but what was it? Cant find anything really that helps online and I’m curious.
The buttons on the wheel dont function even though they are plugged into the wheel slip ring.
Any ideas gratefully received!

Probably a stupid question, but is your car old enough to have all the loom in place.
Apologies for the lack of sympathy, but I did have a giggle thinking you may have plugged it into a socket with nothing coming out of it. :roll:

:lol: its a good question. But mines an 05 and I [possibly mistakenly] thought the loom was present in all post-03 cars? The socket was there in the slip ring for the white MF plug.

To be honest, right now Im just elated that the airbag light has disappeared after unplugging the battery. Still showing an SBSR error but no light?!

Ah ok, I was thinking about all the other loom stuff that is generic up to about mid-04. This is obviously the other way round?

I’ll also get it all checked out on Friday as I have it booked in for software updates. Apparently its due 2 x updates, so I’ll get them to check all the codes then and see whats going on.

If you want another laugh, I put the wheel on, and was so eager I pressed the airbag unit back in place forgetting to bolt the wheel - cue lots of swearing and fiddling with a screwdriver again to get the bag off again :lol:
