E46 M3?

I like this one....a lot

yes, but my photography is keeping it real...wheelie bins in assorted colours...2 jumbo bags of sharp sand in the background.

a fancy camera's one thing, but juxtaposition like that just can't be taught i'm afraid...

One of the best.

About 4 years ago I went to buy one of my dream cars after landing my dream job, went to Sytner Coventry to see a grey E92 M3 DCT. While waiting I saw a silver grey E46 M3 on the lot after being waxed, looked amazing. Drove the E92 M3 and it was great, I'd driven one quite a bit as my sister owned one at the time. Just for the sake of it asked to take the E46 for a spin and could not believe how good it was! The noise was intoxicating, felt so much more alive and SMG thud in the back on flat out changes was laugh out loud fun.

Ended up walking out of there with the E46 M3 SMG and a 130i for daily use for the same price as the E92 M3! Since then lots of cars have come and gone including some that cost far more but the E46 M3 is a garaged keeper, I've just treated her to a brand new interior delivered from Germany and am considering getting another one to turn into a track car.

I would whole heartedly recommend trying one out.

That's not the first person I've read saying they preferred the E46 over the E92. Thanks for all the replies, helped reinforce what I thought and have read about them.

This was one of the best cars I've ever driven.

They are held in high regard for a reason. Might be a classic one day but a hell of a lot of them would need to die some how for that to happen. Supposedly there are nearly 12000 of them still kicking about the UK.

Buy one. You won't regret it.

Agree that is a good story & I just cant put my finger on why but I never rated my E92 M3 very highly either I just think it was designed for the business manager rather than the enthusiast whereas the E46 still has that slight raw driver appeal to it that the E92 just doesn't have.

I have drove the E46 M3`s a few times & I do think that's where my money should have gone. :driving:

You might need to check the thickness of your wallet for one as in pic 8) that would be the CSL version with a few more horses & whole lot of weight shaved off
Gorgeous but pricey against the standard fayre & only available with SMG

Agree they are a gorgeous machine but I do agree they hold their value very well & have a massive following but the SMG gearbox does seem to divide opinion a little.

Oh yeah, I can see now I'm looking on the laptop, was hard to tell on the phone (well that's my excuse anyway  )

I've considered one in the passed, you just need to get the rear sub frame checked out before handing over the cash.

I quite fancied one, but the interior is starting to look dated, and SWMBO thinks they're a gangsta car....

I like them. But I reckon the Z4M is just as good if not better

Agreed and I would go the Z4M route but the kids might find the boot a tad uncomfortable

The Z4M was never a better car than the CSL without a lot of tinkering and thousands spent including the CSL air box.

Z4M is a better looking car tho, that doesn't look dated. I still love the CSL but there are so many poor examples and good examples you can get better cars for the money/age but then again its quite a unique car.
